Normally, the first consultation will last for 90 minutes. This is a time for our therapists to get to know about you and your reasons for counselling. Our therapists may discuss with you the style of therapy that may be appropriate for your needs. You will be required to complete some paper work on your first visit. Therefore, we would appreciate if you could arrive ten (10) minutes earlier prior to the scheduled appointment time.
2. What are the common issues in therapy?
Common issues in therapy may include situational stress, family, relationship issues, anxiety, phobias, depression, fear, grief and loss, children's behavioural issues, bullying, self-destruction etc.
3. How do I know if I need counselling / psychotherapy?
Day-to-day stress that is related to work and daily activities is normal. However, if you find that this stress begin to overwhelm you over an extensive period of time, to the extent that it affects your daily routines, then it may be a sign that perhaps speaking to a professional person might be of assistance.
4.How long is one single session?
Our single session has a duration of sixty (60) minutes.
5. What is to be expected from the first parental consultation?
In order to allow us to better understand your concerns regarding your children, we recommend parents to have consultation with us prior to their children attending counselling/psychotherapy sessions. The purpose of the first parental consultation is to enable parents to understand the counselling/psychotherapy process and parents may be invited to attend further parental consultations at any subsequent stages. Parents play a vital role in a child's psychological, emotional and physical development. Through consultation and discussion, parents are provided with knowledge and skills to understand and cope with their child's developmental needs.
6. I am worried that my identity will be disclosed to other people.
Our therapists and counsellors comply with strict guidelines and standards on confidentiality and all enquiries and counselling/psychotherapy sessions are strictly private and confidential. To maintain our professional standards, we may discuss your cases with our respective supervisors on strictly no-name basis and identities of our clients are not revealed during the supervision process. However, there may be exceptional circumstances where confidentiality may not apply. The exceptional circumstances would be if there is evidence to raise serious concerns about the safety or interests of an individual or others, or if there is a legal compulsion to make the disclosure. The details of confidentiality will be explained to our clients during the first session.
8. How can I pay for the counselling/psychotherapy sessions?
We accept cash payment only. We are afraid we do not accept credit card or cheque payments at the moment.
In cases of online video counselling, prepayment is required for the courtesy of our therapists and to ensure that your appointment time is secured so that our clients can receive optimal benefits from our services. After the payment is made, a receipt will be sent to you via email or text message to confirm your scheduled appointment time with our therapists.
Online video counselling is available for individual Adult's Counselling and Marriage / Pre-marital Counselling only.
9. What is the cancellation policy?
In order to help us to manage our services efficiently, best support our clients and encourage continuity of counselling / psychotherapy treatments, we hope our clients can attend their scheduled appointments. We therefore have policies regarding cancellations and no-show. In the event that you wish to cancel an appointment, we would appreciate if you could notify us at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time. Clients may be charged for the full consultation fee for the cancelled or no-show session if they fail to give sufficient advance notice.
10. What happens to our appointments when typhoon signal no. 8 is hoisted or when there is black rainstorm warning?
Our sessions are cancelled when typhoon signal no.8 or above is hoisted or when black rainstorm warning is hoisted. In cases where typhoon signal no. 8 is lowered or black rainstorm warning is cancelled before 12:00nn on the day of scheduled appointment, our sessions will resume. However, we would endeavour to contact our clients to confirm the appointments in cases of bad weather. Please also feel free to contact our office for rescheduling of appointments or other enquiries.
11. What if I need emergency help?
Healing Hearts does not provide 24-hour emergency help service. If you find that you are in need of emergency help, please call 999 or Samaritans 2896 0000.

Email befriending If you don't want to call us, there is another way. You might prefer to write down how you are feeling than pick up the phone. Many people do. We can provide you with emotional support via email at email@example.com. We try our best to get back to you within 24 hours. Samaritans listen in total confidence and without judgment, whatever your situation."
